4/11/2024 0 Comments Does sonic mania have a game disk![]() Fix : Source a Repair or Replacement of Sonic Mania. The good news is most items come with a full warranty to protect you from issues like this. Just pretend that doesn't happen.Ĭolor reproduction and aspect ratio look wrong because of a combination of my capture card and my unconfigured video editing software. If you have noticed that your Sonic Mania has any kind of cuts, cracks, dents within the Game Disc then it is likely it was damaged prior to purchase. Spikes don't render until you die once for some reason. There are some recent regressions with draw order (fire looks funny), but those can be fixed. Might need to even use some kind of sequencing to make ends meet there. There is currently zero audio playback whatsoever because memory is so tight. It's loading off of a TerraOnion MODE with some random flash drive I found laying around, so loading times are simultaneously way faster than a disc and not at all optimal. Links to those, as well as source code, are available at the end of my rambling.īlue screens indicate that a new scene is being loaded. I work on this in my free time so development can be pretty slow, but it's getting there! You can follow my progress on Twitter/Mastodon, and sometimes I even stream development on Twitch. View: "This port of the Sonic Mania decompilation for the Dreamcast, running on real hardware at 60 FPS (most of the time) with work-in-progress hardware-accelerated rendering. I'll embrace the Steam sales all day long. This is beautiful. Plus if it keeps costs down, I say let them have at it. It also has the throwback charm and emphasizes many series aspects long-time Sonic fans love. Between the two, Mania is a higher quality game, where everything comes together much more smoothly. but they're outgrowing the physical mediums we have available. Overall, if you have to choose between Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania, then choose Sonic Mania. I'd like to keep having more physical games myself. Its just being moved away from not only because games are getting bigger but to save on production costs as physical media costs more to distribute where as digital games are readily avalable 24/7 and instantly downloadable with no cost to obtain for the vendor or the consumer (other than the game itself). This item will be sent to your system automatically after purchase. not to mention I don't know of too many people that have them in their computers. Would actually fall just short of fitting in an HDDVD (15gb) and using a BRdisc (50gb) would be absolute overkill and probably inflate production costs. that most definitely would not fit on a CD-rom, or even a DVD. SkyrimSE's install directory comes to 16gb. if they supplied an install disc, last I checked my install for that game was somewhere in the neighborhood of 50gb (And sometimes MMO's will do this, Aion had one at one point, I still have my Steelbook copy of the Vanilla installer from being a beta tester/pre-order player.) But even going to things that aren't MMO's and require huge amounts of assets, look at Skyrim for example. I mentioned this would be the case with Mania, not always going to be the case though. Of course knowing the way the PC games industry is going, this would likely be nothing more than a Steam code and a backup disc. Sonic Mania, including all redist packages required, can all fit on a single CD-ROM. there's no use fighting the inevitable evolution of technology. That's why I didn't bother with a disc drive on my PC. This game would probably be one of them owing to its small size, but for the vast majority its not really feasible. All a disc really amounts to in my opinion in today's gaming is a physical verision of a portion of the game's download. ![]() only because CDs are too small and require many discs to store almost any current game and most devs aren't going to actually put the whole thing on there anyway, opting instead to simply place a portion or most likely whatever will fit on a simple DVD and making the rest a "Day 1 patch".
